Orfila had another busy week last week – all sorts of musical adventures!!
My previous blog has info about what we got up to at the beginning of the week –including London, Folkestone and Canterbury!
Above: Last week me and Matt also went to support Abi alongside local performers in a production of the musical Miss Saigon – it’s such a powerful show. Absolutely beautiful. Can’t wait till it comes to the West End – which I do believe is in May of this year!
As well as all the other awesomely fun and creative things we get to do, Orfila were invited to BBC Radio Kent to do an interview with the lovely Adam Dowling! We played a two live tracks and chatted about what we’ve been up to along with our plans for the next few months! Always great fun! Huge THANK YOU to Adam for your ongoing support!

We’ve also been adding the finishing touches to our shiny new website – which will be going live very soon, so watch this space for the link!!
And as it’s Monday….. I thought I’d choose a song by the incredibly talented, Thomas Ashby. We’ve played on the same bill as Thomas a few times now, and at every single gig we are just blown away! I would check him out when you get the chance – very good indeed!
So, here’s a link to one of my favourites of his:
Check out Orfila’s Facebook and twitter for all upcoming announcements – there’s going to be a few over the next month or so!!

Way back in 2007, I got the chance to play the leading role of Scaramouche in a production of ‘We Will Rock You’. One of my favourite musical highlights! I had SO much fun playing this part and working with such a brilliant cast.
Have attached a video of me performing ‘Somebody To Love’:

This week, I’ve chosen another one of my favourite country songs! It’s by a singer/songwriter called Scott McCreery – love his accent! Ohhhh country music does make me happy!
Also, this week, you may have seen on Orfila’s Facebook and twitter pages that we performed in London this weekend – we had SO much fun! It really is the best feeling to be able to be on stage playing music with your talented siblings – feel very blessed (and proud!).
Thank you again to all those who came along – your support really means a lot to us!
If you’re in Kent at all this week then we are playing at The Harp Restrung in Folkestone on Tuesday night and Lady Luck in Canterbury on Thursday night! Would be great to see you there!
For now… Haaaappy Monday!

Just wanted to wish you all a happy valentines day! Sending lots of love!

It’s so hard to choose ONE song for a ‘Music Monday’ post… but, I’ve chosen to share a song that I love written and performed by country singer/songwriter, Thomas Rhett.
Here’s the music video for ‘It Goes Like This’:
Check out his website if you like what you hear! http://www.thomasrhett.com/
Will be posting a blog at some point this week about some more musical-adventures I’ve been on lately!

After our first gig of 2014 we headed to Birmingham to start mixing tracks for our album.
We literally have the BEST time when we’re in the studio, especially when we’re in Birmingham. The journey there and back, working with awesome musicians, the hours spent being creative and just being able to turn the world off to focus on our music. As well as writing, recording etc, I’m also really interested in the mixing and mastering process too. We’ve been really involved in the whole production of this album and we cannot wait to share it with you!
It’s all starting to come together now and we’ve got so many exciting things happening over the next few months!
We’re back gigging in London next weekend! We’ll be announcing details on our twitter and Facebook over the next few days.

If you’re reading this then I’d like to just say a HAPPY HUMP DAY!! Let’s just take a moment to dance around in the knowledge that we’ve made it half way through the week!
Aaaaaaaaand, in other news….! As per, there’s tonnes of things happening this week. We’ve been rehearsing, organising websites and other promo things, we’re heading back to Birmingham at the weekend to continue recording and mixing tracks on our alum so we’ve been busy preparing for that! And tomorrow night marks our first gig of 2014!!
We’ll be at The Ballroom in Canterbury – check out the following link for more info!
Would be great to see some friendly faces!

Ok, so this week’s ‘Music Monday’ is dedicated to the soundtrack of feature film Safe Haven, and lots of other musical things!
I have discovered SO much new and brilliant music this week, but the soundtrack from Safe Haven is just incredible. I downloaded it from iTunes and every song is beautiful. I love how each track sounds so raw yet full at the same time. I’d recommend this to anybody who likes acoustic/country/folk music. Lots of guitar and plenty of banjo… And not to forget, tonnes of amazing harmonies!!
This week, I have also downloaded music by James Blunt, Kelleen, Kodaline and Rich Lown – all of which are just awesome!! Will be posting links to my twitter soon:
Just a little story (of one of my many Lou-moments!!): I was in Hollister and, as any normal person would, I got SO excited because Gavin Degraw’s song ‘Make A Move’ started playing. If you know me well, then you’ll know that I have admired Gavin DeGraw, his music and songwriting, since he started. He’s coming over from America in feb to play a show and I actually managed to get tickets – absolutely buzzing!! (Be sure to check back for a post-gavin-show-blog at the end of feb!!)
So…. Today…. as well as uni, teaching and band rehearsals, demo recording I also had an interview with a close friend who is writing for a magazine called ‘Her Campus’. All about ‘going that extra mile’ – really enjoyed it! I’ll be posting a link to the interview once it’s been published.
This picture is fresh from tonight’s Orfila rehearsal!! We decided to start recording demos of our new songs… Ooooo it’s all SO much fun!! I love recording.
As per usual, I’m keeping very busy running around all over the place but I’ll try to keep you as updated as possible! Best place for quick updates is probs the twitter-sphere!!
But for now, happy Monday!!
Louise xx
