Last weekend ORFILA were asked to play at a Christmas Concert in Folkestone for mine and Abi’s ex piano and music teacher, Mrs Thorogood. She has recently been awarded an MBE for her work in music and teaching. She has inspired us all for so many years, worked us hard and always encouraged us to pursue music as a career.
In our music lessons, I remember she would always say: “If you want something, you work hard for it… and I know you girls will…”. Sometimes you meet someone who will stay with you your whole life no matter where you go. Mrs Thorogood is definitely one of those people in my life. She is one of the most professional, kind-hearted people I have ever met. I’m sure a lot of her students, old and new, would agree that she is a fantastic teacher and we are all extremely lucky and fortunate to have been taught by such a fantastic musician and incredible teacher.
A huge thank you for everything you’ve done for us over the years and many congratulations go out to you for such an amazing achievement!

So, this week has been full of many more exciting things! Lots happening but here’s just a few of the things we’ve been up to over the past week:
Above: Orfila played at The Tower Theatre on Friday for a show to help raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital! Well done to James Vince and everyone involved for supporting such a good cause!
Above: Orfila with James Vince after our interview at Academy FM this week!
Above: Orfila at Academy FM with radio presenters Clayton and Luke after our interview!
Above: The Orfila Sisters with ‘Cover Drive’ before we supported them – lovely people and brilliant performers!
Above: Me and Abi with our friend and tv presenter, James Sherwood!! Lovely guy, always has us laughing – joins us on stage at an event at least once a year… It’s becoming a tradition!
This has been yet another awesome week, feeling very blessed! Lots more exciting things coming up… watch this space!!

Our musician-friend, Jon Allen, came back to The Tower Theatre in Folkestone last night!! He performed an acoustic gig which was a mixture of songs from both his albums. Jon has been touring over the past few months and is currently recording some new material at the moment – some of which, he played for us last night. It was such a good gig. Acoustic gigs are always brilliant, there’s just something about pure, acoustic live music… I can’t explain it, but I just love it so much!
This is me and Abi with Jon after the gig:
Also, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has ‘liked’ my music page on facebook!!! It’s now reached 620…. So, THANK YOU!!!
It would also be amazing to build up the www.facebook.com/OrfilaMusic page too because… well ….. we may or may not have some exciting news coming up soon…!!?
SO, I thought I’d leave you with a link to one of Jon’s songs. I do love a lot of your songs, J-man, but I think this one has to be my favorite.

Last night we played in Hythe. It was so beautiful – there were pretty fairy lights all along the canal where we were playing. Thank you to everyone who came along to support us and thank you for all the lovely comments!
Thank you to Sarah Reeves for this photo – more pictures to come, watch this space!
SO, last night we announced that we are doing a ‘Cover Week’ where we will be posting cover versions of some of our favourite songs everyday for a week… the first video will be uploaded tomorrow!
